ok if an amp has water damage to it would it be worth buying?

I'd agree. Unless the seller could provide high resolution photos of the top and bottom of the circuit board, you couldn't determine if it was going to be repairable.

It depends. If water got inside, and it was powered up at the time or while still wet inside, then it might have electrical/component damage. But otherwise, what could be wrong?
In the old days, when Tektronix got scopes back for refurb, they WASHED the entire unit, with the case off, with mild soap and water (after removing or sealing the transformers), then rinsed them with de-ionized water, and dried them in an oven (low heat for a long time). So maybe the guy had it powered up while wet, or while still too wet. But if not, maybe all it needs is a day or two in the sun, or a low-heat oven. |
