Orion Hot set up HS 2.75

Got this amp in for repair the power supply is blown.

They are using SMP6N06's with 10 ohm gate resistors.

Can i sub the Fets in this to something else?

Perry Babin 17th May 2010 07:53 PM

Using a sub shouldn't be a problem. What FETs do you have?

mike49504 17th May 2010 08:03 PM

Irfz44's

Irf3205's

FQp65n06's

Is all i have right now til the rest of my order comes in a few days

Perry Babin 17th May 2010 08:13 PM

Assuming that you meant that it's using 60No6s...
If it's using the same drive circuit as the orion amp that's very similar, it can drive either the 65N06 or the 3205 and both are rated for more current.

Perry,

I also found the following resistors toasted wondering if you might know the values.

If Perry can't help you out I have a nice high res pic of an HS 2.50 I can email you. It should help you out.

Perry,

I have this pic of a hot setup which is the same as the one im working on.

I must be going blind i cant make out the the 4th color band on the resistors circled.

Wondering what ohms theese resistors are?

Perry Babin 21st June 2010 04:34 PM

They are all likely 10 ohms. The two on the end of the board are probably connected between the collector of the PNP drivers and ground. The other one is a base/gate resistor and would be the same as the other base/gate resistors for the other power supply transistors.
