I have this amp in for repair. Amp powers up and plays fine until u try to adjust the filter freq pot then the amp cuts out for a sec and come back on.

Any ideas?

Does it make the speakers pop or move in/out significantly?

Does it go into protect?

What if you bypass the crossover?

Doesnt go into protect. Cross over is off right now. Also makes the speaker flutter a lil

If you push on the board in the area of the crossover pot, does it do the same thing?

Im thinking it Might be the pot itself. If i push on the board it doesnt change if i mess with the pot it makes the sub flutter even worse then before

You're probably right.

You can try cleaning it. A good contact cleaner will creep in-between the sections of the pot. If it doesn't, you can take a thin razor blade or knife and force it VERY slightly into the top corner of the side of the pot without the rivet. That will allow the contact cleaner to get into the housing more easily.

You can try to get one from JL but I don't think they sell parts.

I replaced the switch with no luck. When the amp is playing and i turn the volume up on my cd player to increase the input The amp cuts off.

When the amp cuts off the green power light on the amp shuts off as well for a few secs then the amp turns on again and starts playing for a few secs then shuts back off. Any ideas?

These amps are VERY sensitive to low voltage. Dips in voltage too short to read with a typical multimeter will cause them to go into protect. Try it on a larger power supply (no series resistor) or in a vehicle.

You were right on that one i hooked it up in my truck to a 18" kicker and ran it for 30 mins amp never cut out/shut off once
