I recieved this amp in for repair. on legs 1 to 2 of the power supply fets is reading shorted. And also across Power and ground is reading shorted.
so i pulled the power supply fets, rectifiers, power supply driver board, and the large diode and the drivers for the power supply fets. Still reading shorted across power and ground terminals. Wondering what could cause this?? |

Do any of the components you pulled read as shorted?

It's unlikely that anything left on the board is shorted. Clean the board thoroughly to remove all of the flux and examine the entire power supply area to see if there are any solder bridges.

Since i took the rectifiers out and it still reads shorted the problem is in the power supply or could it still be in the output section?

It's almost certainly in the power supply area. The most likely areas to be shorted are around the power/ground terminals or on the FET pads.

I can't find a datasheet on the Z44A but I'd expect the Z44N to work properly.
