It has only one channel. Are you sure they don't have it confused with another amp?

The repairs aren't typically difficult. We'll try to help you repair it but expect to spend ~$50-70 on parts and there's no guarantee that it can be repaired via the forum or email.

Before buying it, open it up, make sure it's complete (all parts, including transistor clamps included) and make sure the board isn't badly burned. Being covered with soot is OK but you don't want it if the fiberglass board has been burned.

If you have no knowledge of amp repair or electronics I wouldn't say it is going to be easy by any means but you have definitely come to the right place to learn. A great place to start would be to read Perry's basic amp repair tutorial:
Basic Amplifier Repair

For 20 bucks though you could probably buy it and flip it on ebay as is and make some money. If it was me I'd buy it in a second for 20 bucks. And that repair estimate seems high. You could buy a working version of this amp for less than or right around that price.

Its actually not that high of a price, but consider the factory repair was most likely $120.00'ish ( when they still warranted these amps ) it might seem high. Remember that guy has to pay his building rent and tax's also.

I use to charge $225 to rebuild this amp and warranty it with a 3 day turn around and I got it all day long. This amp was very expensive when it was new < like $600.00 >. Factory repair times vary but are usually over two or three weeks and they can just drop in a new board. Oh and plus shipping both ways also...

I guess it depends on how much you really value something weather or not a restoration with warranty fee is "too high". Or as I like to look at it " Doorstop or working $600.00 car amp and how much is the difference ....

Plus if your a handy person like some of us here you could save yourself a bundle of that $175.00 fee by doing it yourself. trouble is how much is your time worth, and how much longer will it take you to become versed in electronics well enough to succeed at your efforts like we here can already do blind folded. I guess it all depends on your perception of convenience also....Just some food for thought. The picture is always a little bigger then the bill most times ...

i am in the same boat as you and i like this amp because i tought myself and its a pretty easy fix so far i have done 4 of them.

what parts have failed on it? have you pulled the clamps off and looked inisde at the transistors yet?

i know these things can fail in a multitude of different ways but im curious how yours has failed and if it is similar to the ones i have done.

i have a post with the same name as yours follow the steps i performed and you will be melting the alternator off your engine in no time.

i did the first one then just followed the steps and ive done 3 additional ones off of the same thread.

if you havent bought it yet for sure pick it up, i sure would
