Default Well, couldn't resist another monster amp..

I found an earthquake ph5000w (3kwrms) on fleabay and it was at $270 with five minutes to go. I thought there would be no way it would sell for less than 375/400 so for fun I placed a bid for 275... and won! I was missing the phd2 and for some reason I just have to have a monster bass amp lying around doing nothing and it looks like its time to look for some subs. I already have four 2ohm kicker cvt65 shallow subs that will be running as midbass and I'm hoping the two a600.2's can force them to play upper mids lol. Now I have to decide on something compact that can handle some abuse, to run in the trunk. Maybe two 10" premier 1000wrms subs or...? I had a pair of premier 12" (silver cone with bullet dimples) back in the mid 90's and they sounded so sweet running on an art600, they also held up very well even with their 200wrns ratings, so maybe the newer premiers can sound just as good.

Well probably 250-300. I'm getting something with rubber surrounds, stitched in tinsel leads, etc. The kicker cvx sound pretty good but are out of my range unless I buy the older model. I also don't want another 70lb box like my previous with two mtx 7500 subs, I'd like to limit the box to around 50lbs max and need something that requires very little space to play low frequencies. Durability is also important, and pioneer seems to have that down.

Guys on another site say the JBL GTi are durable, I never saw one. Like this: JBL W12GTi-MkII (w12gtimkii) - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix

Guy on there from Harmon says you can't bottom it, was saying to run it IB with any power you want. Its tuned a little high for IB but could work...but I have no use for that hog IB I run multiple cheaper subs they work just fine for me. Anyway some are using it (in boxes) and like it, but there are a lot of good subs out there IMO.

Oh another guy was raving about the new pioneers coming out right now, but nobody had run them yet.

How about a little something like this

Click the image to open in full size.

You can always build your own to suit your tastes, I made this one so I could get my trunk back. But I have heard good things about the CVXs and most of the JBL lineup. JBL tends to lean more towards the SQ side of things.

I would perhaps try to find something TC-9/3Hp based

Well it came in today and is in PERFECT condition. I would take a pic but its just like the one on ampguts. I haven't tested it but did pull the bottom cover to check build quality and see if anything was burned or shorted. Very nice inside except for the clamp arrangement and the fact that they use the solder the mosfet to the plate system the rf amps were/are using. There also is no bass knob plug which means less to go wrong and affect the signal path.
