Alpine CDA 7969R Repair

All, I just repaired my Alpine, thought I would pass on the knowledge.

The symptoms were it would open and then freeze. Resetting the unit cured the problem but lost you all your settings.

I took the unit apart in this order:
1. Remove lid
2. remove wire to front panel on LHS
3. remove CD unit and unclip umbilical cable
4. unclip umbilical to front face
5. unscrew screw and retaining split clips that retain face.
6. Remove backing cover from face by undoing both screws
7. unclip umbilical and examine. Mine was cracked where it joined the face.
8. Cut off end of umbilical along crack.
9. using a knife, remove plastic coating from last three 3mm.
10 reassembly and test - should be ok now.
