Hi everyone,:)

a friend give me an old PPI 2150AM broken, with some missed components in the power supply.:rolleyes:
All components are between trafo and rail capacitors.

If anyone knows their value::confused:

FC: triple inductor?

my revision in K but i think others are egual.

I've already replace output transistor with new BD911 and BD912, and opa's with NE5532:D

thank you very much everyone.:)

sorry for no updates.:(

i resoldered new components, thanks to Perry Babin, via email.:)

now, the amp works very well with a "trick" (pin9 shorted to pin16 of SG3525).
In few days, i'll check it in my car:D
In my lab, burn-in test in ok:cool:

for outputs, i use new BD911/912. For power supply i used STP60N06 with 22ohm gate resistor. Not original parts, but good upgrade.

everytime i've to replace 2n6488 and 2n6491, i buy BD911 and BD912.
Are more reliable, very cheap, direct substitute/upgrade. Sound egual.

2n6488 --> BD911
2n6491 --> bd912

For the mosfet power supply, i use common mosfet like IRFZ44, STP50N06, STP55NF06, STP60N06.
But, you have to change original 470ohm gate resistor, with something like 33ohm.

I used, for my old 2150AM (that i've sold) STP36N06 (very low gate capacitance) + 47ohm gate resistor with success.

Now, for this PPI (with STP60N06), i'll try IRF3205 (110A each!) that i usually use in other amplifier and in my SMPS' diy projects. Obviously, i'll reduce gate resistor to 10ohm, and replace R81 and R91 with 1k, for fast gate discharge.
I don't think if SG3525 can directly drive 5 pairs of IRF3205. I've to try to mount all of them (i always start with 2 pair):D

2n6487 is like 2n6488
2n6490 is like 2n6491

no problem with upgrade.

Gate resistor are in front of (or beside) the pin1 of mosfet in power supply (your is 25N06).
Its original value is 470ohm.

If you use mosfet like IRFZ44, 60N06, 55NF06, 50N06, you've to replace with <33ohm (i usually use 22ohm for other designs)

Can you give me board locations on the gate resistors? I don't have a schematic and board is very dark and hard to see traces. Rob
If a one sided board you can hold a lamp near it and see the traces. Otherwise test off the gate and find the resistor. They are often right in front of them, or back but in a row with the fets. Check the ohms of them they will all be the same and each to a gate. A few amps don't to that.

What does this trick do?
3205's work good.. i did it to mine.. changed all the gates to 10 ohms

sorry for late answer.

without that trick, the amp don't start..but goes on on-off loop.
With pin9 shorted to pin16, the amp works well.

@rob
the gate resistor are next to rhe pin1 of mosfets. One leg goes on pin1 of mosfet, other leg goes in a little inductor, then to pin 11 or 14 of SG3525.

If you are still using the orginal power supply fets There is no need to replace the gate resistors in the amp unless they are out of tolerance. If you are using the orginal fets and you switch the gate resistors to something different then you might have problems with the dead time
