A year ago i bought this amp as defective on one channel.
I repaired it and then it has been on my shelf for a while. Now i will need an amp to drive 2 fronts and 2 rear speakers in my RV (camper) i will probably use a portable sub together with my setup. My idea is something like 2 pairs of infinity kappa and a tube sub. I will not destroy my interior with a big subwoofer. Question sell the Harman and buy something newer and better sounding or keep it? Pelle |

I have a few of those shelf amps, but many are not as nice. IMHO I would keep it around for a while since it will hold its value and is a nice amp. It depends on your budget and storage space too I suppose, and future needs.

BTW, the TC600 was $1200 USD when new -I think the 400 was around $800. I have specs and prices somewhere around here.

I have a 300 concord, I should finish fixing it one channel has a bunch of voltage. Thing is huge for a 300, think it is same as the HK model the design sure is.

I have two TC300's and they are nice indeed. I sold one of my TC300's a couple years ago and wish I had not. they are all discrete design inside no ICs what so ever, and pretty much a state of the art Complimentary Class AB bipolar design for their time.
The power supply could use beefier mosfets but this is a simple fix for me. I like them due to their rugged and straight forward design inside. They also have twice the output transistors of any amp with similar power ratings, part of HK's High Current design concept back then. Toshiba outputs also like a lot of home gear use to use. They use very poor power connections and speaker connections and have I have had to replace these and the RCAs on several occasions for clients. But other then this only out right abuse can or will hurt them. Unknowing folks like to use the 300's to run subs with. I can only guess they could not afford the TC-600 they made or were just plain dumb. HK's are SQ amps built with a tough side from their High current design marketing strategy back in the good old days... I say keep it and use it wisely for SQ related details, but I am partial as I know that these and hand full of others were all one of kind back then. hope this helps some...

I don't plan to get rid of the one I have, I see some went on epay for good coin. It has some voltage in one channel and there is power on that base for outputs. I was trying to find the drivers/etc in that mess when I stopped working on it, the layout is not easy to follow at all. Yes its huge.
I used to run 300rms amps on subs all the time, though they were IB or large ported. And that was lesser 300w amps though some were good like the original amp300 coustics, the square ones. I ran them on highs too, ran pair of 300s for a system for many years on and off. |
