Default rf 60x2 schematics?

hi all, a friend of mine gave me an amp of his to look at for him, it has the following symtoms as described by him..

"i have a rf 60x2 with a duff channel (its just putting out DC and blowing speakers )

does anyone have the schematics so i could see whats going on with it, and repair it??

cheers"

to me it looks like it's been messed with before so i would like to know the correct parts for all the devices relating to the outputs.

just had a look and as suspected one of the outputs are shot, it has irf540 and irf9540 for the output pair, that doesn't seam right to me but not sure so i ask

it's an irf9540 that has gone.

I have schematics for the 60ix, I believe it to be the same as the x2. The output fets on the ix are 9540 and 540's.

Those parts are still available, I have a mess of 9540's. Mouser.com carries them less than $1 a piece. Don't know if that is an option in your location.

cory

If you would like the schematic I can send it.

There were some Rockford amplifiers that would not work with the 540N (original was 540). I don't know if this applies to the 9540s but if you can find the non-N version, it may save you a bit of trouble.

the 9540's and 540's can be found on ebay for about a dollar a piece. Look in the Activeparts ebay store. the 540n's were nothing but trouble in a rockford amp i worked on a few months ago.

The IRF540 is an N-channel.

The IRF9540 is a P-channel.
