Default SMPS for car amp

I have recently finished my first DIY project. A Dual mono chip amp based on the LM3875 chip.

I am now thinking of making another chip amp for my car. The only problem is the supply voltages required are +-26v.

I know you can buy converters to up the car voltage to 240v AC. Would this be adequate for a decent sounding system? or would i be better trying to find a SMPS design to build?

Thanks

Dan

Depends, if you know-how, then doing your own could be ok
I would never use step up inverter, then power your amps with what ever home setup you have now

I think for you would be best to just buy car amp, the most safe way for you

If you want to build an amplifier for your car but don't want to build a power supply, find a budget amplifier (preferably used) with a switching power supply and tap off of that power supply to power the amp you build.

Chinese/Korean built amps are likely the best choice because most have power supplies with floating secondaries. If you use an amp that doesn't have a floating secondary in the power supply, you'll have to build a special noise canceling input stage for your amp.
