Default Output wattage

After installation of radio/CD and amplifier and speakers, How do you check the output wattage of the system. I have a very good multimeter but of course there is no specifics in the instructions as to this check. And also whereabouts are you checking. Sorry to sound so ignorent, but car audio is not my bag, any help will do

Hi,
you need a few dummy loads capable of absorbing the claimed output power for a short time, two to three seconds is enough if you are organised.
A multimeter that can measure AC voltage at the frequency you plan to measure at.
A source of sinewave signal that can be varied to bring the amplifier upto near clipping.
An oscilloscope to ensure your output is unclipped.
A 0dB/-20db signal switch to prevent overheating of the loads and amplifier and PSU.
