Distored Hifonics BXI1208D, nothing blown?

I'm thinking of buying an amp and the guy says it's mildly distorted at any volume, but still is powerful. Also, he says the innards of the amp look fine and nothing is burnt. What would be wrong with the amp?

Unless you have an oscilloscope (to find the distorted signal in the amp - assuming that you're going to try to repair it yourself), or unless you can afford to pay a repair shop an additional $100 (over the purchase price), I'd suggest that you buy something else.

I'm assuming that it's been confirmed that the amp is at fault. The head unit or the woofer could cause similar symptoms.

Hm, I'll probably just continue looking around then.
