Orion MPSU57/07 substitute

I've had a hard time finding reasonably priced MPSU57/07 drivers when repairing Orion 250's and 2150's.

I recently came across a 2150 that used 2SA1306/2SC3298 as drivers.

My question is this: are 2SA1837/2SC4793 a good sub?

Mouser doesn't carry the others and according to the data sheets, they are nearly identical with the 1306's able to handle 1.5A vs 1A for the 1837's.

The pin configuration is different for the 2S drivers.

There are several options.

Move the MPS-U pre-drivers to the driver position and use MPSW06 and MPSW56 (or W42/W92) in the pre-driver location. Use clip-on sinks on the MPSW pre-drivers if needed.

Use MJE15030 and MJE15031 in place of the MPSU drivers. You'll have to offset the transistor (base and collector in the correct holes) and use a jumper wire to connect the emitter to the board.

If you can find the Central Semiconductor version (CENU07/57), they should work. I personally have no confidence in Central Semi parts but they're probably OK.

Now I'm no genius, and hardly can repair a torn piece of paper. But it seems to me:

BD239C/BD240C

Would be a better fit. Not quite as much gain. Pretty close everywhere else. Just a guess though.

I'll have to take a closer look at the circuit board of the 2150 because the 2S pins were not bent in any way. The 2S parts were in place of MPSU parts as is.

Thanks for the tip Perry, I'll look into using W42/92 as predrivers. I may even have some in my parts bin.

It's interesting to note that MPSU56 MPSU06 are used as drivers on PPI-2150 which I just happen to be working on.
