Has anyone ever performed a permanent modification to the gain sensitivity switch in a Reference 700s? Right now it seems as if my left channel is stuck in .2 to 2v whereas only the right channel responds to the .5 to 5v setting.
If I push the switch to the left, both gains respond accurately to the .2 to 2v setting, but when I slide it to the right, only the right channel responds to the higher voltage sensitivity. Sadly, the switch worked the last time I used the amp. Now I can't decide if I should replace the switch or just short it to the higher setting.

You can clean the switches. If it's the type of switch that moves a metal bridge/slide from one set of contacts to the other, contact cleaner and moving it from one position to the other will generally make them reliable.
If it has the other type of contacts that work more like a toggle switch internally, you'll have to disassemble the switch to clean the contacts (if you want it to be reliable).

Thanks Perry, I will try the easy solution first. Lately, I have been all to eager to tear things apart.

JandRelectronics on ebay has the switch sets for sale. But cleaning does work sometimes. I also find the housings get lose and a complete removal and rework will bring them back, but at that point just dropping a new one in also works well...

I've tried spraying WD40 into the switches, moving it several times quickly then blasting it with compressed air (for an air compressor) to remove all the WD40 and the dirt along with it. works well for me.
