That amp appears to be a chip-amp. If that's true, there are no non-bridging speaker terminals so the last test I suggested won't work with this amp.

my pioneer head unit also gave me engine noise through the amp. even though i measured a short between the RCA shield and head unit chassis (when the RCA's were connected), i soldered a wire to one of the RCA shields (behind the head unit) and as soon as i touched it to the frontloader chassis the engine noise went away!

I got two words for you... Ground Loop. Well for starters the amp should have its own power and ground points. I would suggest running an external power wire to the amp then test the system. If the problem persists then its a for sure ground loop. Reground the amp while still using the external power supply. Retest the system and the whine should be gone. Make sure when you reground the amp, the grounding point is free of all paint and dirt. Try to reground at a point where the contact being made will be a solid connection to the chassis.
If you follow the steps I have just given you and the problem still persists then repost or IM me. This is a fairly common problem and can be solved fairly easy.
