I have a PPI A600 that is being upgraded. New caps, new op-amp and few more tweaks in the pre section.
I have been told that replacing the 6 IRFZ44 with 4 IFR3205 will have positive impact on the sound quality. Is this true? Why? Thanks |

Changing the power supply FETs isn't likely to have any audible effect. The Z44s can do everything the amp needs them to do. The original transistors were likely 25 amp FETs (RFP25N05s?). The Z44s are 50 amp FETs.

Thanks Perry.
My 600.2 has the 44 when I purchased it. So, reducing the number of transistors from 6 to 4 has no real benefit to some parameters like distortion? In this case, money saved |

Until you drive the amp to clipping, there won't be any audible distortion.
The A600s that I've seen all had 8 power supply FETs. Does yours have only 6? Did someone tell you to use less than the original number of FETs?

Sorry - I mixed up the numbers
It's a 600.2 and has 5 per side And I was told to use 4 per side (totalling 8 instead of 10) |

If there is a place for 10, use 10.
