hi all. i currently have twin 12" subs in a manufacturers proper ported box, and its very loud. however, i want more.

im contemplating twin 15"s, im a box, for instance i like to look of some of the vibe models. twin 15s are of couse, bloody huge, and my next car will be pretty small. but i dont mind. ill just take out the rear seats and put the subs in instead.

i quite like the look also of the poineer ts wx206e

because its pretty darn small, but promises a lot of bass, or, on the flipside of that, one of these bandpass monsters, that i wont pretend to understand -

"if it looks right, it probably is right..." well something that ugly should make a serious racket....

has anyone heard any of the active pioneer subs? i lke pioneer their stuff is quality, always pleases me. basically though how should i get the deepest most powerful bass possible in a car?

please and thanks,
ned .

It comes down to drivers squeezing air, so you want many cones and as much excursion per cone as possible. Efficiency is sort of moot, since less efficient drivers can work in smaller boxes, so you can run more of them. And more drivers increases efficiency and power handling. I suggest using a clear plastic baffle behind the front seats, with as many 15" as you can fit. That'll reduce cabin volume which should provide a useful boost in gain.

thats a pretty sick idea.

what about correct enclosure volume etc.?

PRETTYMUCH SARRIFICES ALL THE SPACE IN THE BACK THO. I WAS THINKING MAYBE caps lock sorry was thinking mabe two of those pioneer wx 206a subwoofers would provide lots of bass in a small package

if i was to go the 15's route what kind of woofer am i looking for? thinking of about 2000watt amp, hmm dunno what that is rms.

i have an alpine 4 channel that i going to drive 4 infinity 6x9s with, then another amp for the subs

Loudest subs......the list goes on and on, here are some you could push w/2k.

These are all relatively affordable suggestions seeing as you'd like to run a pair. Also, I'm happy to help, but you need to understand that asking "Whats the loudest sub", has many more variables that come into play than just the driver. Box config, tuning frequency, cone area, cabin gain, etc. all will determine the end result.

hey there Steviedon, i like your sig. very good.

i like the Alpines. plus theyre second hand on the bay for not-a-lot. i understand the rudiments of box design... i built a sealed box for a sub before and it turned out pretty good.

tuning frequency. well i want to listen to dubstep and very bass heavy electronica with the subs. ive got the impression that ported would be the way to go for what i want. cabin volume - that im unsure of at the moment. im in New Zealand about to return home to Ireland, and since car sound is my latest obsession im planning early, but not 100% on which car yet.
itll be either a small car like a fiesta, or if i can swing it, a large van. not much to go on there then..
