Default Nakamichi faceplate button interface to main unit: resistor ladder?

Hi guys,

I'm looking at the MB-75 service manual but the scan is fuzzy at best.

The goal is to add a wired remote without affecting the removable faceplate. So I am trying to figure out how Nakamichi gets the controls into the main body so I can intercept the wiring inside the main unit.

I don't see any IC's responsible for controls. Not in the service manual, not in the board itself in front of me (MB-100). And It's REALLY HARD to trace the PCB, and there is no schematic, only a block diagram. Buteverything seems to suggest it is just a resistor ladder to interface the entire faceplate into the main body!

Could it really really be just this easy?

And if anyone knows the actual pinouts of the facepate connector, I would really appreciate the help. It will save me so much time and headache trying to trace those leads around on a painted PCB!

best regards,

Steve

Embarrassing, but please disregard.

The answer is yes it is that easy.

as we look at the connector, top left is switch ground. top right is switch 12-22 and bottom right is switch 1-11.

Each half represents the entire left or right side of the face plate.

reset gets its own dedicated pin next to sw 12-22.
