Hi guys,
i'm in need of help with an xtant 121m mono amp. the amp plays fine with no dc offset but it has a green light on to the left that does not go out when the remote signal is removed. what is that green light for again, i forget? the red light that i think should be on when remote is present in never on just the green light. i sold this amp to a guy thinking it worked fine but now it is draining his battery because it is idleing all the time so i need to fix it for him or replace it pronto. i checked his install and all seems fine and i checked the amp jumpers and they all seem ok too. Help please???

afternoon shagone,
Xtant is a pretty much dead product line especially after MTX bought them out, and pretty much does NOT support any of the Xtant gear. I have seen the problem your talking about and you should look for a TO-220 transistor standing vertical near the power supply control IC. I found it to be shorted in my experience with Xtant. This will keep the amp turned on. Just track back the turn on lead wire connection from the terminal block. it should lead you to the defective turn on transistor near the PWM controller chip circuitry...Best of luck, old friend..C PS don't get it confused with the fan driver transistor that should be also located near by....

have you seen the latest xtant/mitek amps? they sure look nice but i wonder how they perform?? |
