I have a 12" Pioneer sub (TSW305C) 800W max, and a MTX Thunder amp (TC2002) 200W, to run it. During the summer my amp is constantly shutting down from overheating. I'm not sure exactly how the amp is set up and was just wondering if there was some way of adjusting it (ie. bridged or not) to fix the problem.

More info is needed. Are you good at this or did you use a thin wire to power your amp? How good is your earth? Wiring is important, how is yours done. Tell us gauge/thickness, where did you connect your earth to, chassis?
Then, your driver could be wired wrong. Or a strand of wire splayed acroos a screw terminal. More info, please. ![]() Mikee55 Here will help http://www.bcae1.com/

You can look it up on that site, seems like 8ga would be good for power wire and a secure ground to the car. Make sure you are not running it at a lower ohm load than the amp is for, I'd guess that amp is good for 4 ohms bridged and 2 not? Or if you are just running it hard and it gets hot eventually, you can remount the amp to a cooler place often the floor is coolest unless the exhaust is directly under it. What I do with some old amps I run that get hot, I put a relay on the remote wire and a PC fan blowing at the amp. You can run the fan right off the remote on older HU if you only run one amp, but newer HU handle less current so look that up or relay it. The slower fans are quiet and work well if fairly close to the amp say a foot or less. Those little fans take near no power. It is not good to overheat an amp all the time.
