Hi, is it better to burn a cd from a wav. file or from an mp3. file ?
What sounds better ? or does it sound the same ? The wav. file is a bigger file of course... What if I convert an mp3 file to wav ? is it better sounding in a car stereo ? |

lossless is the best you can get.
mp3 depends on the bitrate you convert it at. |

even if you convert an mp3 back to wav, you wont recover the lost data. it will sound the same as an mp3, but be bigger!

Then again, in a car, with the poor accoustics and background noise, can you hear the difference?

I have found that playing .mp3 files at 320kbps to be the best sounding. 256kbps is ok but I can hear the loss of sound between it and 320kbps. A lot of people might say you can't tell the difference but I defiantly can. If you have something at 192kbps or below, it sounds terrible. 320kbps usually keeps the file size low...like around 4-8mb...depending on the length of the song.
I've ripped a album from a CD at over 900kbps and couldn't tell any difference between it and one at 320kbps...The fiule size was HUGE and it was just a waste so I would recommend at atleast 320kbps if you are talking about a mp3... |

Ya 320kbps sounds good, but when you download from the net, how do you know its 320kbps ? It could be a 'fixed' file converted to 320.

It is better to buy original CD's! Copy will never be the same, even using lossless formats.
The problem typicaly is, that the CD-player will not read the CD-R as good as an original CD. |
