Okay i had bought this amp off ebay two weeks ago expecting it would work but when i conncected it i got no sound except a loud screech sound from the speaker. When i opened it i saw that the Gain control know was busted off. I had another broken amplifer which was a DX350 that had a pot that was 10k. So i tried it on and i got a very low output.

What could be the problem? do i need a higher resistance pot? I was expecting the full 700 watts not 5 watts. lol

But when i try to adjust it, It makes a loud screech sound. Does anyone have a spair broken DX700 with the pot in it? Or would i jsust be better off getting a new amp because i've always wanted one of these like so bad and finaly got it but not working.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The gain pot is supposed to be 100k. Take a 100k ohm resistor and connect it to the outside pins of the pot (after removing the pot). That will be full gain. If it still screeches, there's an open trace in the gain feedback loop (pins 8 and 9 of U7). The 100k ohm resistor should ultimately connect between pins 8 and 9.

R39 should be 100K ohm according to my info. And 10K is used on the RJ-11 plug for remote gain.

I found the support document here:

Good luck, as I recall these had a high failure rate along with the DX350 and you can buy the whole new DX350 board on ebay for $56.00 from a fella by the name of Iameverlast...:)

OOPs Sorry Perry I was typing when you were , my bad...

Thanks Perry & 1moreamp for the reply.

Are the resistors that i should connect to the pot

I'm unsure which one i should use because they both have different watt rattings?

Also can show which pins are which on the pot? I'm not really all that with electronics. Thanks

Typical pot on an amp is stereo, so you have often two rows of three pins. Usually row closest to knob you turn is one channel and back row another. Outside pins are the resistance of the pot the center moves with knob. They are used in different ways I'll guess this one bleeds the center to ground or something like that if Perry says the resistors give full gain. You can test the pot to see how it works, outside pins of each channel should be X ohms the pot is, so put the resistors in the board at the outside pins for each channel. I think Perry's site has a page on them.....yes:
