is that a dual coil sub? if so it looks like one of the coils didnt have the right amount of adhesive applied before winding the outer coil...or maybe the machine ran out of adhesive at the wrong time.

the area of the coil seperation is where the magnetic gap is located.

most of the time approx 10-15mm above the centerline of the coil is where it is hung.

since i cant see any signs of blackened wire, it doesnt indicate the coil was too hot for a prolonged period of time...

unless of course you burped it for a split second with 4 times over rated power...there wouldnt be blackened burn marks.

you didnt hook up only one coil did you? that would cause it too.

what kind of sub is that?

They could have used a faulty adhesive that melted at high temps instead of burning, that could cause deformation. Quality adhesives won't melt, they'll burn. Kind of like comparing the plastics used for high temp parts like ignition coils to the plastics that melt like cheap kitchen bowls.
