I am looking around to see what is out there. I am looking for a decent deck with out all the ******* bells and whistles. Don't like fancy grafics or color changing buttons. I have a Alpine 9805 now. it gets my CDs HOT! when I eject one after about 15-20 min of listening it is pretty dang hot. How does this deck rate? is it worth upgrading or not. Thanks. How about old school Alpine decks.

old school alpibes are nice but also look into nakamichi and denon decks from the late 90's. i'm not sure how the current one's are.

It's a lower line Alpine from a few years ago I believe. I can definitely tell you that their older decks are of much higher quality (7909,7949 etc). The denons are pretty pricey but probably worth the price. For great sounding, quality decks that can be had reasonably cheap search for some older Eclipse units on ebay. Something like a 5303R, any of the ECD models, 8051.
