I have a bazooka eva 500.1 that powers up, but puts out very little sound (almost none). Is it worth messing with, or should I throw it away?
I don't know crap about amplifier repair. |

Are the gains turned up on the amp?
Have you tried all controls/switches in all positions? Have you confirmed that the signal source and the speakers are in good working order? Is the sound it produces clean/clear or is it distorted? Are you sure it's an EVA series amp? If you want an introduction into basic amplifier repair, read through the basic repair page (link below).

Yeah, I tried adjusting all of the gains and crossovers. Yes, it says EVA on it. I cant even hear the sound that comes from the subs, but I can feel them move a little. The wiring is good, because I tried a different amp. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Please help!

Can you post a photo of the guts so we can see what we're dealing with?
If you can take high resolution photos, email them to me. babin_perry@yahoo.com

I mean ela. Not eva. I got the amp free from a friend who said it worked fine, sat for some time, and now no sound.

I just dropped the amp off with a guy to take a look at it, so I'll have to wait to take the picture. I opened it up earlier and didn't see any busted parts or anything.
Thanks fellas! |

The dude that I left my amp with said the power supply was shot, and that it would be more expensive to rebuild it than buy a new amp. I told him to use it for parts. Hope I did the right thing. Sound right to you fellas?

Unless the board was burned beyond repair or the transformer was shorted, you should be able to replace all of the power supply components (the ones that commonly fail) for less than $20.

Oh cr@p. The board looked fine. The dude I gave it to helped me out before when I had a RF punch amp with 2 blown outputs. He fixed it for me for $20, so I thought he would do me right here. Next time I'll check with you guys before I give an amp away.
THANKS! |
