I had a guy recommend them, he installed and had good luck with them. I got hold of a V-max but have not used it yet. Have an alphasonik that is working fine and not had time to try the cerwin, so I'd also like to hear what luck others have with them.

Default jol50

well, my friend had 2 V-max 10" dual 2ohm subs in a makeshift box in his golf velocity, he has a earthquick 1000w monoblok running it, but he a bit underpowered, taking that the subs actualy needs 1000w rms per sub to run it for entry level spl, i bought the 1 sub cause he needs some boot space, but now he keeps the big box with 1 10 " in it cause smaler boxes sound like crap, do you maybe know a good box size? sealed or ported

Yeah a v-max 10 is what I have, its 600RMS I think and my alpha is 400rms. Box- I like to use winISD and see how large of box to where the lowest bass stops increasing much, near always larger than factory says. You can also stuff it with poly batting. Ported will be larger but put out more, smaller ported (long ports) are hard to work with for good sound IMO and worse than small sealed. This alphasonik is in a 1cf box but inverted, and ported to about 29Hz. Is in the house right now and sounds pretty good, goes low, need to test in car to be sure. Have to run a subsonic on it though, but I have not looked at V-max yet to see if it will like same box. You really need a special sub to run small sealed, inefficient but most subs sound nasty in relatively small sealed yet their marketing people still say they will work....this for sound quality that is; you need smaller if you pile the power to it or it can xmax. That might be another reason they all say they work in tiny boxes. Right now I have four cheaper infinity subs IB into my back seat, takes no trunk room and 400rms amp shakes the car. Have no idea what it would do for spl, but when I cross it at 40Hz and max it out I can't hear the four door speakers on 4x70rms so good enough for me...and they are louder if crossed higher.

The ONLY time I was ever beaten in a SPL comp was by this guy with 4 CV stroker 18" (the 1st series).
He had them powered with 2 VLX 400 amps.

Unreal crazy loud (but sounded......bad)

I had 12-15" kicker comps with 1250 per speaker (and 11-1000 cca batts).

Oh the days.....
