Initial look at one of these and I see hardly any large caps in this amp? I know newer amps have less transistors and smaller PS, but this is listed as AB and 4x75. The rail caps appear to be three 680uf in a quick look unless I missed something? Most others have at least 2200/ch.

For example a JL 4300 4x45/75 amp has 6x3300uf35v. This seems typical in amps I see like this, near always a 2200uf per channel or more.
This alpine has 4x680uf50v. Alpine: # 4-channel car amplifier # 75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (150 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms) # 300 watts RMS x 1 (channels 3/4 only) in bridged mode Sorry on my first post there are three B+ caps in the alpine the same physical size, I think 2200uf16v, but even number of four rail caps like there should be. Does this Alpine have a much better PS that does not need much in way of rail caps? I've always had great luck with Alpines but not yet run any of their newer amps w/digital controls or class d...I assume they work well. |
