I was told that it was made for Kicker. Kicker was going to have US Amps build amps for them, but something happened and it didn't go through. Was told it is a 100HC. Really a neat amp. Very simple. Looks to have some power to it too. The "K" in the heatsink is what identifies it as the Kicker prototype. Don't know how much of this is true, but what I was told. Anyone have any input or info? ...

Alpines 35xx # system wasn't very logical. I suppose there was logic in there somewhere. Here's the lineup from '87:

Model - W/ch - Min imp - notes - Price
3537 - 100x2? - 2(switched) - DIN/RCA - $470
3530 - 50x4? - 2(switched) - DIN/RCA - $430
3533 - 60x2 - 2(switched) - DIN/RCA - $370
3520 - 120x1 - 4 - DIN/RCA - $320
3521 - 50x2 - 2(switched) - DIN/RCA - $270
3519 - 30x2 - 2(switched) - DIN/RCA - $220
3211 - 18x2 - 4 - BTL sub amp, 120Hz LP - $130
3510 - 18x4 - 4 - BTL - $130
3505 - 18x2 - 4 - BTL - $85

Yeah, go right ahead.
Thanks for the info. Look at those prices! I drove $150 cars then, well in the winter I did. Alpine seemed to add 1 or 2 to get the next new number for an updated amp, it is a strange naming convention.

I have a 3555 now if I can get it running, was told they are pretty nice. It has a torched regulator. It has to220 BJT in the PS. If I get it going in time I'll replace a 4x70rms kicker and compare the two.

The gold plated one- the black one I have is a 3521. I think I did fire it up but like many of these old amps it came without the molex plugs...$270, at least I only paid well under 10% of list price shipped. The old smaller ones seem to be worth little.

3521 does have some nicer/different features, though I'm not near as familiar with these old amps as you guys are. Has no thump relay, thermal on the toroidal, Toshiba 100w 2sc3182 outputs as most of the alpines I've seen are Sanken, a BA4558, NEC 494c, six 35v/1800uf rail caps, 25A fuse, and even an inductor on the 12v that many don't have. Though I don't know if this amp is any better than any others since I've not used one. Maybe I'll try it if its actually 2x50rms. Has a 2/4 ohm switch too, does that change the rail voltage?

Very nice. I remember putting those in new, I think they cost about that much back then.
