Has anyone been able to get this unit to control mp3 players. Or knows what usb mp3 players can be controlled and put on shuffle or other use other controls like the iPod.

I tried the Sandisk and The creative Zen 30 gig unit. It will play music but i can only go forward or back. i cant shuffle play or repeat.

With the iPod connected you can pretty much control all functions on it.

Appreciate any help someone who hacked this problem can give me.

No one? I am still trying to figure out if it is a MTP issue or Synch.

It makes little sense to me that i cannot shuffle play an MP3 player that had the function built in to it.

I am loathe to deal with iPod and iTunes and associated headaches.

Do a search on some of the car forums like CA, someone may have discussed it. Or google it and look for car audio forum sites in results...I have read a lot about HUs in those places.

No worries. I found out it cannot be done. An iPod is the only choice if i want random/shuffle play. Sucks but ces't la vie.
