I know this is a mostly how to fix forum but does anyone have any input on a pair of kenwooder kfc-w2503 subs? sound quality? SPL? overall performance i can get a pair for 35 dollars is it worth it?

Any time you can get a pair of decent subs for $35 i say go for it. They are decent and very efficient but won't handle tons of power but who cares. stick them in a small sealed box and let them rock

Pretty good subs for the money, especially at the price you are paying.They will not blow you away by any means but they are a decent all around sub when placed in the proper enclosure.

i only ask i had the w3003's and w3005's and those were well worth the money just wondering if the ten performs the same as the 12 only what you would expect out of a ten though, if that makes sense

Another hazy area (size) but I like 10s. I have 12s now and they work well for what I am trying to do. 10s tend to not reach as deep, often have a higher Fs and just don't move as much air. However if you don't ask for a lot of 25Hz they can work very well. It depends on so many variables, but often they seem to have a nicer roll off on top to blend with the rest of the system. I'd not recommend you tune them really high unless that is what you want, or they will peak hard at the top of the sub range and can be hard to cross over....IMHO. I just got a nice 10 and put it in a ported box to play with. It gets down to 25Hz, but then just unloads and must have a subsonic. I am tempted to try it on HT but many plate amps don't have subsonic, or I've not found one yet in the brief time I've had to look. I also used a MTX 10 for a while sealed and thought it sounded really good for a single 10. Back in the 80s/early 90s 10s were as popular as 12s are now. Of course then they started to make drivers that can use a much smaller box so you can fit 12s in a car.

In the end for that price, you can just bail on them and get your money back anyway. Every system I have ever had I was always swapping stuff how else you going to find out how it works. I've had great luck with pyramids in the past, so don't automatically think a cheaper sub is bad. Often they are more efficient, you just have to be careful of blowing them. I was thinking of trying them again, they might be enough for what I need in this car. If you want to run a 2Kw amp, well then you will need subs that can handle it.
