if the Orions are in proper working order you may get better sound quality out of them. but sound quality with regards to bass is up to the individual. raw power vs. accuracy. your enclosure size and type will probably have the bigger impact here.

You'll also want to be sure to run them at the proper load to achieve the best damping factor. If the colossus is actually 3200 watts it could still have a lame damping factor. Find out the damping factor the amps will provide when loaded with the woofers.

The best sounding sub setup I have ever heard used 12X Jensen (cheap paper drivers, not even Jensen’s best) 12" drivers, iso loaded. The box was designed and built by renowned speaker engineer Jerry McNut from Eminence.
It was powered with a variety of different amp combs for testing but they all sounded surprisingly good, not excessively loud (for 6 exposed diaphragms) but very musical. The ending cost for the drivers was something in the 225 range....

Nothing about any of the components SHOULD have sounded good. I would have told you it should sound like poop if you told me what it was before I heard it.

Both the amps mentioned are good but just as I have seen bad components sound great I have seen great components sound bad. I couldn’t tell you what would sound better. A good sub match with the power in a box suited and tuned for the vehicle will have a much bigger impact overall..

Performance will depend a lot on box design and placement/integration on cabin acoustics and on filtering/EQ. See this thread: same size box, 2xsealed VS isobaric BP ?

Amplifier choice is not that critical...

And that's pretty much a blanket statement for car audio.

Those cheap and efficient subs can sound really nice properly setup. I used to run paper pyramids and wish I could buy them now they have changed. They only lasted a couple years of abuse though, but at $15 each who cared? And right, a specific amp worked better on them and made quite a difference.
