Good: Old McIntosh (all of the MC series amps...), RF DSM (waffle style), a/d/s/ PQ series, Proton "high headroom" amps, PPI A series amps.

Bad: I'm with all of you on the old Sanyo amps. Ugh.

Ugly: Any amp that's chrome.

for the good amps: anything by crown, zapco, mcintosh, and even jbl's power and gti series bass amps (because they are made by crown)

for the bad: anything off brand, including pyramid, pyle (of $***) and so on.

for the ugly: jbl's lowest line of amps comes to me first. any amps that are just a plain square of plastic is pretty lame. no lines or anything for cosmetic appearance.

It is small, but I am supposed to be getting a harmon kardon ! So I hope it is a good amp for tweeters or maybe mids. The home amp I have is wicked.

Harmons are great amps, I haven't seen one in years. My bro got the big 600 watt for free and sold it later to help buy a performance teknique.

The best amps are early 90's PPI AM series.
The bad are the Pyramid amps.
The ugly are the very large Sherwood amps from the 80's.

That old 80s pyramid was not bad, I sold it a couple years ago. Maybe not great, but it held its own. I never had any of the newer stuff but I do know PPI made some amps for them also.
