Everyone likes to use 'yellow tops', the gel batteries. I'd say if you don't want to spendy for one then just get the biggest good brand battery that fits in your car. Go 1,000+++ CCA. I would not think enlarging the wire to the stock alternator would help much, but maybe. I'm not sure about deep cycle, they don't put out the current needed to start a car, but may or may not supply an amp. Some trolling motors take a lot so I guess it would work if you don't have huge amps. They hold more power, but odds are you wont run your stereo for hours on end with the car off....then a normal battery would work fine and have more current available from the start, likely be cheaper. It really depends on just how many amps you are going to draw, how many watts.

deep cycle batteries are only good if you plan on running your system with the engine off like posted above, and if you run the battery down you won't be able to start your car with it. Just get a standard lead acid battery, it's cheaper and you don't lose much in convenience.

or even better: http://cgi.ebay.com/KINETIK-HC1400-K...QQcmdZViewItem here's what I'm using with a different label. I'm running two ppi a600.2s and an earthquake phd2, but I don't leave the system running for long with the car off. This battery still outperforms my stock battery and its less than half the size. It was time to swap my stock one and since I plan on running a fmic and needed room for one of the pipes I got this battery. Haven't killed it or my alternator yet. I may get another to mount in the trunk after I do my motor swap. ![]() http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-D...spagenameZWDVW

a deep cycle battery would work fine, ive used a few and they lasted a long time...whatever you do dont get an optima 'red top' they arent designed for stereos and will die a fast death if you park and crank it with the engine off...
id do the big three first and see how that works out first though. if you could id also run another wire from alt to batt... |
