I am trying to decide if I want to go with 4- 6.5 coaxels or 4- 6.5 componet sets. goning in a 97 jeep cherokee. also why are pioneer componet sets so darn $$$. any input on a decent set of coaxels or componetsets. I have around 50 wats to send to each speaker. 4 channel amp. Thanks.
Co-axials are generally of a lower grade speaker than component sets, of course there are some exceptions but few and far between.
Firstly a '97 cherokee uses a 5.25" speaker I believe as my '95 model is that size.
As for Pioneers, you get what you pay for and Pioneers are pretty cheap compared to the good ones....

No not necessarily some of the best systems that I have heard have the mids and tweeters completely off axis and on top of that some were using co-incident source speakers which technically is a co-axial (Kef Uni-Q) but as I said before it is all to do with $$$$
