right now i can get 3 different amps, all worthy of being in anyones portfolio of amplifier history, but dont know which one i should get...opinions appreciated with reason.
1.Zapco z600c2 -sl 2.Orion 2250 sx (first dig ref) 3.Rockford Power 650 mosfet if i was rich i would get all three.....but.... i know the rcockford is going to be a biatchhh to restore. im more familiar with orion zapco's protection circuitry is from hell. im really interested in the power 650 though, anyone know the real output power of it? i will buy assuming that all 3 will have problems. my current sub amp is a orion2150sx and mid/hi's on a 225hcca just to help with the decision. help

Judging by the components used in the three, I would go with the orion if you're looking for power. I have one of those punch 650's laying in my room, big pita as far as I'm concerned. I will be putting it on egay hopefully. I like zapco, but overall I'm more impressed with the board layout and performance of the orion.

where am i planning to use the amps? dont know! lol
whatever amp fits the bill best for whatever the application...i will use it there... make sense? i can get them for: zapco - $ 400 orion - $ 300 rockford - $ 200 if it was the second generation orion dig ref, i would jump on it, but im not sure if the circuit board layout is the same...the speaker plugs are missing too. http://www.thaisecondhand.com/view/s...p5712950n1.jpg -------------------------------------------------------- i had a z300c2 with protection problems that scared me off, but hopefully ive gotten better at repairing since then...but man the z600 is hard to find... http://www.tarad.com/_tarad/_modules...p5712964n1.jpg --------------------------------------------------------- the bias pots on rockford amps just leave me clueless...but ive always wanted one. http://www.thaisecondhand.com/view/s...p5704581n1.jpg --------------------------------------------------------- cosmetically the rockford appears to be in the best condition. no way the orion and rockford have about the same power output huh? god...i dont know |

the zapco looks like a good candidate if you can fix it.

i forgot the orion uses those diodes on the back, so it may be out of the question.
think the zapco would be more poweful than a orion 2150sx? |

yeah im pretty sure the orion would beat the zapco power wise, but the orions dont have any protection...and its quite old.
the zapco has crossovers on it too...output crossovers also. if you only knew what i went through to fix my current 2150sx (not 2250) |
