I am working to set up my first car sound system. I found a Alpine 3554 for $150 cdn. This would be fine for driving two 10" subs am i correct? Is that a decent price? i will still over him less but just wondering what those are worth these days.

actually its a goood amp but its a four channel
50 watts by 4 or bridged at 150 by 2 built in hp/lp/off switch crossover is set at 80hz i still have mine, it will work fine for two 10s as long as your not trying to really loud. |

I also have 2 3554's and a 3544 and a 3552, the price sounds a little high to me as I paid $100au each for the 3554's and $75au for the 3544, though I don't know what the conversion regarding the money side of things.
These are pretty good amps though they are getting quite old, they date back from around 1994 and they are unregulated and were rated to produce their power at 14v so they most likely put out quite their rated power in the real world. You would be better with the 3544 if you can find one as they are rated at 2 x 150wrms @ 4 ohms and 2 x 210 wrms @ 2 ohms but no internal xover.... |
