The new car has a CD/Radio player - no cassette deck. However, we use audio cassettes a lot - talking books mainly. Any solution where I could play the cassette through the CD/Radio player? I know that it's possible to convert iPod to FM and then pick this up with in car radio - similar arrangement available with any cassette player?

What sort of car ???????????????

Depending on the car's dash, install a second headunit.

one that has a tape and amplifier section, then wire the speaker outputs of both units to 'speaker relay'.

was done way back when people wanted to add a cassette deck to a car that only had an am radio.

no tape means the factory unit works as intented, start playing a tape and the tape player switches the speaker relay, viola, tape playback.

OR,

replace the factory unit with an aftermarket unit that does what you want.
