Bottom covers are almost there...

I got a pair of bottom covers milled but they're not 100% perfect. Hopefullt I'll have another pair done tomorrow.

No, comments...
Too boring or what?
I get it, I haven't started on the panels...
At the moment logistics are holding me back. I'm having trouble getting the panels to the powder coater. :P

Ok, this is another fairly productive day.
I made another pair of top covers but these are with threaded holes (M6) for easy mounting.

The table is finished and work has begun on the panels

Posted 8th March 2012 at 02:54 PM by markusA

The work table for stretching the mylar and mounting the panels is done.

I've done the most of the programming for the end buts for the panels.
Two top covers are already milled and I'll try and get some more done tomorrow.

So far I've only worked on parts for the curved panels but the table will take flat panels as well if I turn it over.

A small step for mankind but a giant leap for me?

Posted 1st March 2012 at 08:39 PM by markusA

I figure I could give a small update...
The "table" is comming along although some hickups are making it take longer than expected.
Here's another pic with the thing somewhat assembled but not finished.

I'm pacing myself with the ESL build...

Good things come to those who wait.
Building the jig/work table...
Today I got the aluminum sheets cut, bent and rolled (milled?).

Last week I milled the aluminum supports with my CNC-mill.
Maybe I'll have the darn thing ready by next week?

I've started on the ESL, errh... or something?

Posted 26th April 2011 at 01:57 PM by markusA

I've started sourcing material for the upcoming esl build.
So far I have
- Transformers
- Tapes (I'll have to get some more though)
- Paint or whatever you call it for the powder coat. Grey for insulation and black for the top coat.
- A bag of miscellaneous electronics components
- Connectors and wiring

I have found
- a supplier for the perforated steel sheets.
- a powder coater
- a shop that can roll the stators to the correct curvature.
- a supplier for the diaphragm coating.

I guess it's about time to take the final plunge?
Order me some perf metal and start the build?

There is one question I'm still trying to figure out. How the h*ck do I mount the panels so they can stand on the floor?
There are plenty of examples out there but I'm not really fond of any of them. It'll probably come to me when I have the panels in front of me?

Everything is gone. :(

Posted 17th January 2011 at 07:43 PM by markusA

Today is a dark and horrible day.
My sever crashed.
No response what so ever!
All my schematics, designs and project details are unreachable.
I don't know If I'll be able to salvage the data or not?

1 preamp, 1 tube dac and a set of ESL plans are gone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the drives are ok.

Posted 8th January 2010 at 08:54 AM by markusA

I tried soldering some Cardas Litz wire today. NEVER EVER EVER EVER again I tell you!!!
That **** is horrible to solder and I don't care how good they claim it to be.
