The best sounding I/V resistor

Posted 3rd March 2013 at 09:22 AM by dvb projekt
Updated 3rd March 2013 at 03:17 PM by dvb projekt

As many of you know, i am using the Texas Components TX2575 Bulk Z-Foil resistor for a long time
in important circuit positions, especially as I/V resistor.

Recently i stumbled over a short recommendation from Thorsten Loesch.

Some SMD resistors are really bad, some are so-so and some are most excellent, though no patch for a Rohpoint Squaristor GR102.

Ciao T

Because i know Thorsten as a man who had the perfect sound in mind,
i ordered one pair 30R to try them in my Tube-I-zator.

In the meantime...

As you could see in the Upgrade Part #1, the printing of the Sophia Electric Royal Princess 300B
is 90 degrees different to the Emission Labs 300B-XLS.

Not a big thing, but itīs not looking good!

Unfortunately i have only two holes for the Tube-Socket. Therefore i made two small adapter to rotate the Tube-Socket.

Tube Rectifier Comparison with SSHV in between

Vin= SSHV input / Vout= SSHV output

Because i am on vacation, i had the time to listen to two other tube rectifier i have.

The question, if there are still differences in sound with different tube rectifiers and the SSHV in between, is

YES !!!

Till now i used the Bendix 6101, a very nice sweet and soft sounding rectifier.

After i roll to the SED Winged "C" 5U3C (5U4-G) Black Plate rectifier,

...someone lift a invisible curtain...

Much more precision in the mids and highs and the soundstage open up in all directions.
Jesus, in comparison the Bendix sounds much to soft!

The Mullard GZ37/CV378 Coke Bottle has also the qualities of the 5UC3 Black Plate,
but is a bit softer sounding.

The only disadvantage

Best source for TX2575 Naked Z-Foil Resistor

Posted 28th August 2011 at 07:52 AM by dvb projekt
Updated 28th July 2014 at 10:12 AM by dvb projekt

All members who want to use the "holy grail" audio resistor,

the TX2575 Naked Z-Foil,

could order it direct at Texas Components.

Thatīs the cheapest way to get it IMO.

They have also great Trimpots with Bulk Metal Foil Technologie.

P.S.: If you send a mail to Arbie, send her regards from me!
