UHER 4000L

I have a Uher 4000L had perfect clear audio sound a few months ago. The sounds has now slowly deteriorated to a scratchy and harsh tone you can barely hear the content. Any thoughts? TY

    Hi Aunson, since this appears to be a reel to reel tape deck I'd suggest asking a question in the analog source forum just as a completely uneducated guess, have you cleaned the heads? maybe an old tape shedding oxide?

    Did you do any trouble shooting at all? Run a different tape, clean the heads, to eliminate those problems?
    Then there could be electronic problems. It is after all a fairly old machine. I used to have several...
