My F4 Guide

Posted 11th February 2010 at 05:36 AM by cviller

This is a guide to building a F4 using my boards, but you may be able to find some useful information here even if you use other boards.

The boards are based on the schematics from Nelson Pass's FirstWatt F4. You can get the service/user manual here: First Watt: Products: F4

You might want to check out the GB thread here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/group...gb-f4-pcb.html

There are still more available and you can order them from my site GB order page for cviller

Errata
There is a trace error around R22. I have cut the traces on most of the boards I have sent - and the rest of the batch will be cut before I send them out.

These are the cuts which needs to be made:

Why are grown up people mean?

Posted 10th February 2010 at 01:58 PM by peranders
Updated 11th February 2010 at 03:13 PM by peranders

I'm sure you'll know about a forum where they call this forum "The Pub"? From time to time I read this forum and for those who don't know, the forum founders were a bunch of banned people from this forum. Some of them are rather decent but a few individuals must cry out their contempt. Why does it have to be that way?

Example:
Mr X says this about my forum:
Quote:
I know some other guy, from Sweden, who has several sockpuppets in his own forum.
He asks the questions about his own products and answers them.
Now beat this.
The forum software doesn't reveal a thing of the user identity such as IP numbers. I have clearly stated that the forum is mainly for support and you can also see that many of the users use the same nick as in other forums. Mr. X isn't a moderator at my forum, therefore he can't see IP numbers, not even a clue what they might be.

Mr. X is a grown up person which I'll believe has a working social life....

GB F5 Guide (pcb version 2)

Posted 3rd February 2010 at 01:17 AM by cviller
Updated 28th July 2011 at 06:49 AM by cviller

As promised, I would make a guide to the boards and in particular to the additions I have made to the F5. I decided to do this in the blog, because then you can give me comments which I can use for improving the doc. However I'm not done at all, but I thought it would be nice to give you access to the BOM I have made.

IMPORTANT: Before you start stuffing your boards, you must read the manual/article written by Nelson Pass – available for download on the First Watt website (First Watt: Products: F5).

There are no more boards available, but you can order F5 boards on the diyAudio store.

Optionality
With the addition of optional extra output mosfets and cascoding, there are many possible ways to build the amp. Here I'll try to explain some of them.
