F4 Headphone Amp working.

Posted 1st December 2009 at 10:29 PM by Tea-Bag

I built this using PD boards and the design by Zen Mod (well the resistors were as close as I could find in my stash).

I will post a picture of it soon. It works.
I can bias it to about 220mv at 15.5v and offset is stable, but at around 30mv a channel.

A few holes more...

Posted 1st December 2009 at 10:28 PM by Bas Horneman (Bas Horneman's diyAudio.com blog)

It's funny but one does not realize how much time goes into a project like this. In my case anyway.
Taking the time to find the correct spacing etc.
And after you've drilled the hole you realize that it is just not big enough. Out comes the metal file and you have to use some elbow grease to enlarge it just enough so it will fit. Then you can't find the other cap. Thus the decision is made to pull the ASC's from an old project. Etc. Etc. And all I have to show for this is one little picture.

SemiSouth JFETs R100's

I am considering doing a group buy for these units. Magura and I discussed this after realizing the logistics of the current GB did not meet everyone's needs.

SemiSouth has a price break of a 100 units, that would be the minimum amount order.

I have a pair running in a Mini-A right now. I changed R8 on that scematic to about 650R with a pot. I have yet to any critical listening.
I am going next to try this in a BA-1 amp. Running two pairs on each channel. They will be built in monoblocks using .5R source resistance to get the current up.

Anyways, here is the google spreadsheet to edit to show interest in a group buy. I imagine 50-60 dollars a matched pair is a reasonable target to strive for.
