Default Preamp for 3875

I ordered Audio Sector LM3875 Premium Kit today!

I know that NOBLE POT is used if I wanted to build integrated LM3875 Does that potentiometer provide gain?? My guess is no.

Should I interpret this to mean that LM3875 does not need gain? This whole chipamp thing is new to me.

I thought that to buld two mono blocks would be the cleanest build I could do, should I rethink that? My receiver that I have will take the HDMI IN from my SACD, and I will be able to use pre-output to get the audio-signal to LM3875.

I envision the future upgrades, and plan for that goal as I go. I will someday get a better DAC and Preamp to replace my current receiver.

Maybe I have missed a key fundimental here. Should I be building a dual mono on one chassis so that I can use a single volume pot for both channels and keep signal lines short?? Or should I follow my origional plan to build the pair of LM3875's with no volume controll, and then use the preamp section of my receiver to controll volume?

I had sourced some good diy interconnect stuff (cardas), and thought that I wanted seperates,.... but gainclone is all new to me.

Any input appreciated. Any information on what other LM3875 owners are using for preamp (or did you all integrate?)

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Mr. Daniels,

Such a wonderful forum you have here in the commercial section. I certainly am a big fan! You've done a great job if keeping it instructional and to the point.

A few days ago I had accidently posted a question that was directed more to line-stage than to Audio Sector. –Later I edited the post to make it more relevant to the topic of Audio Sector, but I couldn’t edit the 2nd post that I had made….. so it gets no replies, and just seems like… well a ‘wierdo’ post. Sorry ‘bout that. I wouldn’t blame you if you deleted it. LOL

p.s. I think I found the answer to my question anyway.
I am going to have to form my own listening impressions. I can always switch to noble pot if my cheap preamp colors the sound too much in an unwanted way. I am thinking it shouldn't be too hard to un-solder the RCA to make this change if needed.
