In this case though, I currently have a bulb socket wired inbetween the live lead of the power module back and the transformer leads. Is this acceptable for testing?
if the Neutral and the Safety Earth (PE) go straight though from mains to equipment than that is OK.

Odd...I thought I had posted a response yesterday but for some reason it didnt show up.

Anyway, my response said that I went ahead and tested as I had it and all was good. I tested voltages per Peters thread, and then I connected test speakers and a source. All 4 channels sound good and clean and I'll give it some burn in time before evaluating sound. What I can say though, is that even running as I have this first amplifier (stereo 4 channels off of two chips) there is plenty of clean power.

Thanks are in order to Andrew, Sangram, and of course Peter for continued support. You guys rock
