thanks Peter - in my haste yesterday, I ordered some J511s from HK. Good news on the op-amp.

Finally finished my phono stage. Running a Benz Micro-Glider S with 0.8 mV output into it. I have to admit I did not think it would sound better than my PH-5, but it does. More transparent mids and much more control of the bass. Very nice project.

This is brushed and anodized; done by a local shop that specializes in this type of work.

tested the power supply - V+ = +14.88 volts... close enough for me. However V- = -2.1 volts. Negative voltage feeding into U2 is fine at approximately -18vdc. Where do I start troubleshooting? I'll start digging into it again tomorrow when I can get a fresh look at it. Just want to make sure I didn't invert a component!

No I'm not - but I can add it. Thanks! On my parts list, guess I got confused on what could be taken out.

adding C4 did the trick - now I just have to go over my soldering (I'm an old p2p tube guy!) as I have one channel with excessive gain and no bass. Probably just a blog of solder making a junction with something else in the feedback loop. Thanks again for your help.

after much head scratching, I finally reflowed every solder joint on the 'strange channel'. Also found an op-amp connection that looked a little dodgy and added some more solder. Once I finished that - everything works.

Obviously my Dynavector 10X5 is not an ideal cart - but it's making music! Very fast and detailed phono stage. Now I just need a better cartridge... to be continued.
