Hi there,
A friend has offered me one of these in good working condition. I'm building a simple preamp at the moment, and will be trying it in a week or so. I don't know anything about turntables, so it would be really great if someone can estimate it's value. Are we talking US$ 50, $100, or more? Does this model have any outstanding features? I think it'd be good to replace the stylus, so I'd appreciate any advice on a suitable low cost replacement. Here's a link for some general info: http://www.vinylengine.com/library_m..._model=SL-1700 Thanks in advance. Andrew. |

My take:
100 dollar would be right if in great condition, complete with (standard) cartridge and good stylus and dustcover. 50 dollar would be about right if working but without cartridge or with some cosmetic defects. Less if there are problems. |

Hi dutchflea,
Thanks for your response. I think the player is in great condition. The seller wants about US$ 140 - a little high, but not outrageous. The market for equipment like this in New Zealand is small, so I guess I can take this into account. Best regards, Andrew S. |
