If you don't mind me asking, what products of theirs do you own. I don't own any, but I have heard the MC cartridge and phonopreamp from them, and I was very impressed with the sound and build of the products. They build them much more like we here design stuff, rather than over priced and under developed. None the less, they are quite expensive, and I can not, at the moment, justify any of their products.

I see you live in Rome, far and away my favorite city in Italy yet. I visited in July for around three weeks. It's one of the few cities in a foreign country that I felt completely at home in. I would like to some day consider moving to Italy, possibly around Rome, as I had so much fun, and I'm starting to not like so much, the ethical practices of my own government.

Default Audio Tekne/Art(Italy)?

Some years ago when Be Yamamura , then based near Firenze, was associated with Art (the Italian company) he had a cartridge which he developed with a Japanese maker. I had a couple of prototypes and they were very very similar to todays Tekne cartridge. They sounded as good as it gets but were very fiddly to align to get the absolute best result. This was probably due to the fact that they sounded good by any standards even when not aligned optimally!
The only downside was that the output was very very low....lower even than an Audionote Io.
It was interesting that these cartridges sported an eliptical stylus at a time when everyone was using special shapes. Also there was no yoke. Fragile, which is why I have only a solid carbon body left!!
Have you any experience of the Art MC1?
Oh yes....it was expensive!!
Good Luck.
Brianco.
