I need help on a new LINN arm which I made it...
By plexiglass! Only one thing left, to open a REGA cut for my RB250 As I know the distance from the spindle to the centre of hole must be 223mm The arm board 50mm x 300mm. I wonder where excactly should be the centre of hole , perhaps right in the middle of 50mm side - I mean onto 25mm ? Any help please! Thanks |

long time since I set up a tone arm. Mounting the arm directly in the centre of the arm board would be the position where you will get the most amount of structural motion as the distance to all the board edges will be the same. Offsetting the arm on your board will also offset the structural resonances of the arm/board combination. The same thing applies to a speaker on a baffle. Worth thinking about. Regards Moray James.

Thanks a lot Moray.
Well, I did a mistake about the dimentions of the armboard... The correct dimentions are 100mm x 280mm, so the middle for the centre of the mounting hole must be on 50mm and not on 25mm as I described before... But a friend of mine told me that the long side must be 280mm and not 300mm. Is that correct ? And what is the distance from the centre of the mounting hole to the back edge of the armboard ? HELP PLEASE...!!!

Here is the stock Linn arm location. I used the information that is available on the Vinyl Engine BTW. I will post twice.

The basic dimensions given are taken from my stock Linn armboard.
The Rega mounting location was derived from adding 12mm (223-211) to the Linn hole center @65 degrees. I don't know what the Rega hole size is, I'm sure you can find this or measure the Rega base. Jeff |

My pleasure Nick. I may attempt this myself one day. Post a pic when you're done.
Best of luck. Jeff |
