I had a KD-85 I bought new in 1977 for a great many years, unfortunately my ex got it when we split up back in 1999 - at that point it was still running just fine. Incidentally I liked this deck a lot better than the two Revox B-200 that replaced it.

I can understand why you would want to fix yours, and I wish you good luck.

Exclamation Transport removed

I am in the process of servicing the transport; I have completely removed it from the unit.

No need to fear; I have meticulously written down every process, part, and screw removed along the way. I have numbered all of the parts and screws in my writings, and have cross-referenced those numbers with pictures I have taken along the way. I am positive I will be able to put it back together properly.

Thanks for the help and information, Klaus!

When I have a really good one of all the parts all over my bedroom floor!

Klaus, would your repairman be able to help me if I provide you with photos and dimensions of all the rubber parts in the transport?

Thanks, all

Yup, got your problem nailed. Had a KD-55 for a long time. When they shipped new the motors were no good. Yours just took a little while to fail. Since you say wasn't used much I assume it has few hours on it. Mine failed one week after getting it. JVC replaced the motors under the original warranty with a transistor controlled one. After that played fine for 10 years before it failed again.
